History

Expansion Capital was founded in 2002. Henry Corning, our Chairman was its first Founding Investor. In the tradition of the Corning Family's original role in the founding of Greylock Partners in 1964, Henry became the lead investor in Expansion Capital's initial funds, Clean Technology Fund I & II. In 2003, Diana Propper de Callejon and Bernardo Llovera joined as General Partners. As funds under management increased, investors came to include the founding families of several Fortune 1000 companies, large financial institutions, leading foundations and corporations.

Expansion Capital was a pioneer in Cleantech venture capital and is respected for its leadership in developing the Cleantech sector. In this respect, in 2002 Expansion Capital was the sole VC organization to be a Founding Investor of the Cleantech Group, one of the leading conference and data providers to the Cleantech investment community.
