Prior to joining Expansion Capital in 2003, he covered technology equities for Piper Jaffray, where he focused on financial due diligence and modeling. His past experience also includes business roles at the internet consulting start-up Scient. He is a regular speaker on Clean Technology. His most recent published article was “The Cleantech Investment Megatrend - Venture Investors Take Notice - Clean Technologies Are Changing the Venture Capital Landscape,” which was featured in American Venture Magazine, November 2006. Kjartan holds a MA in Applied Economics from the University of Michigan, and a BA in Economics from the University of Bergen, Norway, where he graduated number one in his class. He speaks Norwegian and German fluently, and is a proficient communicator in Swedish and Danish. | ’

His board involvement with the Firm’s portfolio companies include: Element Labs (Energy Efficient Commercial Lighting - LED); Powerit Solutions (Demand Control and Demand Response solutions for Industrial Facilities); SensorTran (Optical Sensors); Tiger Optics (Optical Sensors); and Agile Systems (Advanced Motion Control and Power Drives).
