Agile Systems

SensorTranSensorTran develops advanced fiber-optic based sensors for complex asset monitoring applications. Since 1998, SensorTran's Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) instruments have been helping companies around the world in Oil & Gas, Electric Power, Pipeline, and other industries improve the performance and management of their critical assets.

SensorTran's DTS instruments are easy to use, and provide the most cost-effective performance on the market. Service offerings from SensorTran include training, on-site installation, and system integration consulting. With a track record of responsive support, SensorTran is committed to helping customers be successful with their DTS installations.

Under contract to NASA in 1996, SensorTran was formed as a division of Systems and Processes Engineering Corp. (SPEC) to develop a compact and lightweight DTS system for monitoring cryogenic tanks on the next-generation X-33 space shuttle from Lockheed Martin. SensorTran successfully passed flight qualification of the new DTS system in 1998.

Following this successful program, SensorTran began a new effort to commercialize its DTS technology, and began selling the new system, called the Model 5000, in 1999. By 2000, SensorTran had established itself as a significant player in the DTS market, selling systems primarily to Oil and Gas and Electric Power customers.

SensorTran is now selling its second-generation DTS system, the Model 5100, for a variety of applications around the world. This new model brings significant improvements in performance and ruggedness, and remains the most cost-effective solution available for its target applications.

In 2006 SensorTran was spun out of SPEC in a venture capital backed financing led by Expansion Capital Partners.
